Felipe Martínez-Pastor, Ph. D. (felipe.martinez@unileon.es)

Dr. Felipe Martínez Pastor achieved a B. Sc. and M. Sc. in the University of León. He carried out his Ph. D. research in the Cell Biology Department of ULE, on the collection, characteristics and freezing of wild ruminant epididymal spermatozoa. After obtaining his Ph. D. title in 2004, he held a post-doctoral position at the University of Castilla-La Mancha. He achieved a Ramón y Cajal fellowship in 2009 and he currently is a researcher at the University of León.

Estela Fernández Alegre, M. Sc. (eferna01@estudiantes.unileon.es)

Estela is a Ph.D. Candidate pursuing to understand the role of melatonin and its receptors in the spermatozoa of several species. She attained a Masters in Biology of Reproduction.

 

Amer Q. Salman, M. Sc. (asalma00@estudiantes.unileon.es)

Amer is a Ph.D. candidate, his project deals with the optimization of cryopreservation survival of bull sperm in situations of low cryotolerance. He attained a Master in Veterinary Medicine-Animal Reproduction at the University of Baghdad.

 

Itxaso Crespo Félez, M. Sc. (icresf00@estudiantes.unileon.es)

Itxaso got a bachelor degree in marine sciences in the University of Cádiz, Spain.
Then she achieved a M. Sc in the University of León and carried out the final
master work in the group. Currently, she carry out the analysis of sperm samples from
clinics and farms.

 

Ender Yalcinkaya Kalyan, M. Sc. (eyalci00@estudiantes.unileon.es)

Ender Yalcinkaya Kalyan obtained her BSC degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics and Msc degree in Medical Biochemistry in Istanbul, Turkey. She has been working as a clinical embryologist in human IVF labs for 13 years. She started her Ph. D. in our lab as a part-time student in 2015; and her Ph. D. thesis focuses on the effects of different oxygen tensions on sperm quality and subsequent embryo development.

Alba is a Ph.D. Candidate at University of Mar del Plata, Argentina. She carried out a stay at Reprobio’s lab in 2015 to investigate the effect of seminal plasma proteins on ram spermatozoa.

Isabel carried out her M. Sc. in the group, studying the presence of aneuploid spermatozoa in human and pig.

Teresa A. Balmori Roiz, BVSc

She is a veterinary student from the University of León. She carried out her final degree work with Dr. J.C Fernandez Dominguez-Tejerina, being supervised by  Dr. Felipe Martinez Pastor in INDEGSAL. This final degree work is about melatonin receptors in bovine spermatozoa.
